Over 15 Years Of Building Telecom
About Us
B&M Tower was started in April of 2006 with one crew of tower technicians and steadily grew after that. The Founders, Mike Miotke and Jayme Brown were Certified Crane Operators working soley on towers and decided to start their own company based on knowledge gained at their time of employment with other tower companies. In 2007, we grew to four crews and two Project Managers, working primarily in the midwest and North East markets. By 2008, we were up to six tower crews and one civil and electrical crew and four Project Managers. B & M Tower has performed all types of cellular work with Direct Carrier customers to OEM’s, such as Alcatel-Lucent who was our biggest customer in 2008. We have built this company slowly and steadily to ensure a quality product to the end customer.
Business Strategy
B & M Tower’s core business is to provide it’s customers with the quality installation of their engineered products. We provide labor, logistics and management to insure that the end customer has the highest quality finished product. Our advantage over most of our competitors is that we complete all work in house. We do not sub-contract any work from warehousing, installation and Quality Management, we do it all to ensure the customer always has the best possible product. We are willing to provide our customers with the workforce that they need to get any project done, virtually anywhere.
Our Leadership
Michael Miotke - President/CEO
Michael’s journey began in 2001 when he started as an apprentice at the Local 324. By the age of 26 he had become a fully licensed crane operator journeyman. In 2005 Michael while working as a crane operator, Michael met a man named Charles Nunley. Charles was a sub-contractor who was already well established in the cell phone tower industry. Charles gave Michael this advise “Do you want to just stare at the sky all day, or do you want to do something with your life…”
These words of wisdom inspired Michael and his partner Jayme to start B&M Tower Technologies. Starting as an unknown company both partners traveled through ten different states trying to build their reputation as a sub-contractor. Finally settling in on the Maryland market, Michael used his business prowess to help secure several vendors such as Sprint and T-Mobile.
Recently, Jayme and Mike have utilized their vast knowledge of the crane industry and have begun to expand their business into a crane rental company. Although it is early on in this venture, they have already begun to grow a strong reputation for safety and reliability with their customers.
Jayme Brown - Vice President/CEO
Jayme’s journey begins as an 18-year-old when he started working for the Local 324 as an apprentice crane operator. 3 years later he had earned his stripes and had become a fully licensed crane operator journeyman. He would go on to work on several large jobs including Ford Field, The Renaissance center, and the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport. During this time, he began to grow a strong working relationship with his longtime friend, and soon to be business partner, Michael Miotke.
In 2006, Jayme and Mike, left their jobs to pursue their dream of owning their own business. Both of them went on to sacrifice a lot at this time, moving their families to Maryland for over two years. During this time, they made in roads within the industry working steadily for companies like Alcatel Lucent, T-Mobile, and Sprint. They transformed the company from a low tier sub-contractor to a direct contractor for many of the major cell phone carriers. They have maintained these contacts through the years because of a high quality of work, and a clear determination to get jobs done quickly in the safest possible fashion.
Recently, Jayme and Mike have utilized their vast knowledge of the crane industry and have begun to expand their business into a crane rental company. Although it is early on in this venture, they have already begun to grow a strong reputation for safety and reliability with their customers.
James Perkins - Project Manager
In 2009 Jim started working for B&M tower, utilizing his experience in telecommunications that he acquired in the United States Marine Corp. Starting from the ground level, he quickly started moving up within the company. Within a year, Jim had already been promoted to construction manager, and was regularly running crews throughout the Midwest.
In 2013 it was clear that Jim had more to offer within the company and was promoted to project manager. Using his leadership skills and his clear understanding of the tower industry, Jim Flourished in this new role. To this day Jim continues to run the Baltimore-Washington division of the company. He has made several new contacts throughout the industry, and has been a vital part of B&M tower’s growth and development.
Kenneth Gorham - Project Manager
In 2006, Mike and Jayme were just beginning to grow their small business when they asked Mike’s uncle Ken Gorham to join the company. Ken, a veteran of the military, had a vast experience in the electrical automotive field, working for the Lear corporation for over 10 years. He left this company having earned an honorary engineering degree for his work on the electrical systems of the Ford Explorer and Ford Ranger.
From the beginning it was clear that Ken was to be a vital part of the organization, quickly becoming one of our most influential construction managers in the company. As a construction manager Ken worked in more than 10 different states, and has worked for various different vendors throughout the industry. In 2008 the company started working steadily in Maryland, and clearly made an impression for its high quality and standards.
